First of all i would like to say that bulldogs love children and make a good family pet known for an affinity with them , but in this we feel it is important for the bulldog to be reared with the children from a puppy , and care taken to protect the puppy from too much attention and a peacefull haven for the puppy to retreat too. As they are a very strong and powerful dog it is important your children respect this addition to the family.My own bulldogs live happily around our children and the rest of our family .

 

Bulldogs are approximately 50lbs , the males having a bigger head and looking more impressive than the bitches who should be about 5lbs lighter a heavy stocky looking dog and although described as big dogs , We think they are small /medium size in height ,they can be any colour but black , there coat is short haired and quite spikey ,they can moult all year round , they can have straight or screw tails although straight is preferred and they expression should be sour and its preferable not to show there teeth .

 

There life span is like most heavy dogs avereage is about 9 years we know of other bulldogs reaching much higher than this most of this is down to the life style of the bulldog we reccomend a coulpe of twenty minute walks a day

 

 

 

Hot weather is a danger to bulldogs , there faces are called Brachycephalic , it means short faced,they particulary struggle in the heat ,travelling in cars , sunbathing which they are partial too , all can result in a dangerous situation which have been known to cause death . Immediate but slow cooling down is needed to save a overheated bulldog.White bulldogs can lack protective pigment and may suffer sunburn if allowed the hottest part of the day , it is safer to exercise bulldogs first thing in the morning and last on evening  during the warmer months .
